Goals & Objectives

Alhaz Sunai Bibi Choudhury College (ASBC College), established in 1997 in Udali Bazar, Hojai, Assam, has for more than two decades been an important centre of higher education in a predominantly rural and socio-economically disadvantaged region. The college was founded to address the educational needs of the local community, especially students from rural areas, minority groups, and economically underprivileged backgrounds who traditionally had limited access to quality higher education.
Academic Goals:
The core vision of ASBC College is to impart knowledge and wisdom to young learners, strengthen human values, and enhance their capacity to face societal challenges confidently. The college’s motto — “Education is the mother of leadership” — reflects its belief that education should not only transfer academic knowledge but also develop leadership, ethical conduct, and social responsibility among students. It strives to nurture individuals who can contribute meaningfully to community development and nation-building. The mission of ASBC College is rooted in equipping students and the society at large with the intellectual, professional, cultural, and moral competencies required in today’s complex world. This mission is pursued through a multifaceted academic and developmental agenda:
• Quality Teaching and Learning: The college places great emphasis on delivering high-quality teaching and learning processes that help students acquire deep subject knowledge and essential life skills. Academic enrichment includes regular classroom teaching, interactive learning, seminars, motivational talks, and remedial support to help students meet their educational goals.
• Holistic Development: Understanding that education extends beyond textbooks, ASBC College actively fosters students’ all-round growth through extra-curricular activities such as wall magazines, debates, extempore speeches, educational tours, and cultural programs. These aim to sharpen critical thinking, creativity, leadership, and communication skills.
• Skill Enhancement and Employability: To prepare students for contemporary job markets and entrepreneurial opportunities, the college plans and initiates short-term professional and skill-based courses, including certificate programs that focus on vocational and self-employment skills.
• Library and Research Support: The institution works to develop its library resources with books, e-journals, and learning materials to support both academic study and research. Encouraging faculty and students to undertake research activities enhances the intellectual climate of the campus.
Institutional Objectives:
The college has a set of specific objectives that drive its planning and activities:
1. Access and Inclusion: To provide equitable access to higher education for students of all backgrounds, especially those from rural, minority, and economically weaker sections of society. This objective aligns with national goals of educational equity and social inclusion.
2. Academic Excellence: To maintain a high standard of academic performance through continuous evaluation, feedback systems, infrastructure improvements, and innovative teaching methodologies.
3. Moral and Cultural Upliftment: To instil strong human values, respect for cultural heritage, social ethics, and patriotism among students. Cultural activities and community engagement are key avenues for realizing these objectives.
4. Community Engagement and Extension: The college actively engages in community service and extension activities — including awareness campaigns on women’s empowerment, environmental protection, child marriage prevention, and health initiatives — to strengthen ties with the local society and contribute to its welfare.
5. Infrastructure and Technological Development: Continual improvement of campus infrastructure, including smart classrooms, sports and cultural facilities, and digital resources, is a strategic objective to ensure conducive learning environments.
6. Governance and Institutional Growth: With an effective governing body and participatory decision-making processes, the college aims to build robust institutional systems that promote decentralised management, quality assurance, and accountability.

ASBC College sees itself as more than an academic institution; its goals include uplifting the larger community by promoting social awareness, reducing educational backwardness in the region, and fostering civic responsibility among students. By embedding values of equality, tolerance, and sustainability in its programmes, the college prepares learners to be socially responsive citizens who can work towards inclusive development in local and broader contexts.
